Travel: In New Zealand I have been able to indulge my passion for travel by writing for several magazines including Next, Herald Travel, Weekend and Short Breaks, M2, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and NZ Today. Recent stories include a trip to Malaysia, a road trip report on a corner of the Kaipara, a walking holiday in Victoria, Australia and a colourful piece on the Art Deco weekend in Napier. I am reasonably well travelled internationally but also enjoy combing every inch of New Zealand and revealing the jewels we have here.

Homes: in the UK I was associate editor of 25 Beautiful Homes and sister-title 25 Beautiful Kitchens magazines (the latter has since dropped the ’25′ from its title!). Here in Auckland, I was Home editor at Next magazine for three years, commissioning photographers and writers and writing stories myself. I also undertook kitchen specials for Home NZ. I love meeting homeowners and hearing all about what they have done and the passion they’ve done it with. From this I create a story that others can take inspiration and tips from.

People: I love telling the stories of extraordinary people be they local heroes or famous faces. Within the last six months I have written a profile/meeting story on NZ icon poet Sam Hunt (published in NZ Today) and a story about a couple turning the toughest cowboys’ pink by introducing a Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign to their annual rodeo to raise funds for Breast Cancer research (published in North & South).

Horse riding: I am a horse rider with more than 30 years’ experience and worked for three years on Horse magazine in London where I was chief sub and writer. I also run a horse riding holiday directory, www.findaridingholiday.com, and have written about a wonderful horse riding holiday in Mexico for an American trail riding magazine. Here in New Zealand I have twice written about my experience on the annual week-long cavalcade horse trek in Otago. The first year for Next and last year for NZ Today.

What can I write for you?
